Below are just a couple of ways to help develop more housing in Framingham.
Support Village Zoning in Saxonville
In 2015, the then town undertook an extensive process for rezoning Nobscot and Saxonville, and while Nobscot's zoning passed in 2019, Saxonville's village zoning stalled out while defining design guidelines. This has left the downtown a jumbled mess of zoning types ranging from industrial to single family residential. Let your city councilor know that you want to see this process finished and unlock downtown Saxonville for smart development and right-sized housing.

Attend Planning & Zoning Subcommittee Meetings
Most land use decisions in the city are made by the City Council and are usually run through the Planning & Zoning Subcommittee before coming for a full vote. Despite their outsized impact, these meetings are often sparsely attended unless a controversial development is being discussed. If you want your voice heard either on a specific zoning proposal or just a general concern about the city's development, these are a great place to start.

Advocate at a Planning Board Meeting
Most new multifamily developments in the city go through the Planning Board process. Often in this process, unit counts are reduced and parking added. That makes this board a great place to advocate for specific wants as they relate to a project (or even join if you're really passionate). Meetings are also jsut a great place to learn what's going up in our city.
